Story
~ Hi ~
I’m Katy, founder of Days of Dwam ~ a kidswear brand made from upcycled textiles in East London.
The meaning of ‘dwam’ is to be in a daydream state, and this was how the brand started out. Daydreaming of making clothes in a more mindful way, I left my job as a fast fashion buyer to focus on slow fashion whilst caring for our toddler.
Teaching myself to sew and pattern cut, I started up-cycling my clothes into pieces for our daughter. Seeing her in clothes made from mine, re-imagined into something new, was a great feeling.
All fabric is sourced from local charity shops, designed into and cut by me. Patterns are then stitched at Fabricworks, a social enterprise in Limehouse that teaches local women to sew and pays a fair living wage.
Days of Dwam garments are designed to be unisex and oversized, so they can be worn for longer and shared. The aim is to make clothes that are one of a kind, whilst being inclusive and reducing fabric to landfill.
